School Bus Monitor

Work Location:
Bus Garage (Work hours determined by the Transportation Supervisor)

Anticipated Assignment:
Approximately 4.5 hours per day – Middle/High School and Elementary runs

Salary:
$16.95 per hour (per the current 2025–2026 CSEA Salary Schedule)


Qualifications & Skills

  • Working knowledge of basic first aid methods

  • Ability to establish positive relationships with students and staff

  • Clerical aptitude

  • Physical strength and stamina appropriate to the position

  • Ability to understand and follow simple oral and written directions

  • Patience and resourcefulness when working with students with disabilities

  • Must be at least 19 years of age

Training Requirements:

  • Completion of a 3-hour pre-service course

  • Completion of a 10-hour certification course within one year of hire

  • Completion of 4 hours of monitor pre-service training prior to riding the bus

  • Completion of a total of 10 hours of monitor service training within the first year

  • Employee will work collaboratively with the Elementary Nurse regarding food allergies and Epi-Pen use
