Peru Central School District is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Secretary to the Superintendent / District Clerk / Records Management Officer.

Position Information

Type: Full-Time, 12-Month Civil Service Exempt Position
Location: District Office
Work Schedule: 37.5 hours per week (additional hours compensated through stipends)

Compensation

  • Secretary to the Superintendent Base Salary: $45,000 – $55,000
  • District Clerk Stipend: $4,500 – $5,500
  • Records Management Officer Stipend: $2,250 – $2,750

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

  • Health Insurance valued at up to $36,888 annually, or
  • Health Insurance Buyout valued at $3,500 annually

Position Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Serve as the administrative assistant to the Superintendent, managing scheduling, appointments, and office operations.
  • Act as the primary liaison between the Superintendent, district staff, and the Board of Education.
  • Maintain and update district communications related to policies, initiatives, and key events.
  • Manage district calendars and ensure alignment with meetings and deadlines.
  • Attend all Board of Education meetings, record proceedings, and prepare official meeting minutes.
  • Ensure district policies remain current, accessible, and compliant with applicable regulations.
  • Oversee district-wide records management, including both electronic and paper records.
  • Assist with legal documentation and policy-related matters as directed by the Superintendent and Board of Education.
  • Organize and facilitate the annual budget vote, including logistics and communications.
  • Serve as a liaison with the New York State Education Department (NYSED), BOCES, and other agencies to ensure compliance with state requirements.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned in support of district operations.

Knowledge and Skills Required

Applicants should demonstrate:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive, etc.) and electronic document management systems.
  • The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with others.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Professional discretion and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • A positive, proactive, and professional work ethic.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education and/or background in Communications, Business, Marketing, Legal Studies, or a related field.
  • Prior administrative support experience, preferably in an educational or governmental setting.
  • Familiarity with legal documentation and district policies preferred.
  • Experience in public relations and professional communication development preferred.
